In an effort to enhance the water treatment process, a new SPYDER sludge removal system has recently been installed in the sedimentation basins at the treatment plant. This new system consists of a web of piping that uses static head pressure to remove the settled sludge from the floor of each basin. The piping is connected to electronic valves that can be programmed to operate based on adjustable intervals, dependent on sludge accumulation rates throughout the changing seasons.
